How should the border of an unprecedented park be like?
Yongsan Garrison is a military base situated in the heart of Seoul. Throughout history, it has been used for military purposes for a long time. Currently, the U.S Army is stationed here. However, as the U.S army plans to move its base to another place, the government plans to renovate the vast land into an unprecedented park. In other words, a place that was long forgotten from other parts of Seoul suddenly becomes accessible. Through this research, I planned to analyze the different characteristics of the city and the park that is in direct contact with each other, thereby giving some solution as to shed light on how the border should be created.
Typology of each border
According to the context of both the park and the city, the characteristics of each site could be categorized by several items. By setting up rules for each item, one would be able to apply those rules one by one when designing the border.
Type 1: Borders next to roads
Type2: War Memorial District
Type3: Border next to Yongridan-gil district
