Jaewon Kim is a Master of Architecture candidate at Columbia University GSAPP (2026) and holds a Bachelor of Architecture from Hongik University in Seoul. His education spans international contexts, including study programs in Stuttgart, where he explored architectural representation, urban thinking, and alternative design methodologies. Across these experiences, his work has focused on form, material, and the capacity of architecture to communicate through spatial clarity rather than external reference.

He has professional experience in both the United States and Japan. At NO Architecture in New York, he contributed to competition and commissioned projects through design development, plan studies, and visualization. Previously, at Junya Ishigami + Associates in Tokyo, he worked extensively with physical models, furniture prototypes, and material research, supporting projects across multiple scales and stages of design.

Jaewon’s work has been recognized through multiple academic and design awards, including the Columbia GSAPP Merit-Based Scholarship and the Grand Prize for Hongik University’s Graduation Project. His broader design interests extend to product design and urban research, including lighting design for the Dongdaemun Design Plaza Design Fair and editorial work on urban regeneration studies in Seoul. He works fluently across digital and physical media, with strong proficiency in Rhino, Grasshopper, Revit, and related visualization tools.
