How can architecture seamlessly be integrated to the existing system?
Hongik University was built gradually. The construction period of each buildings show its expansion over time. As it was built one after another, the circulation inside the campus is very complex. To make matters worse, as it is constructed on the mountain, elevation of each buildings variate diversly. Therefore we can argue that the specific circumstances of the campus led to a complexity in circulation.
by proposing corridors that go around the perimeter of the existing buildings, The corridor becomes an extension of the existing buildings and also a connection that simplifies the existing complicated circulation that weaves through different buildings.
